National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training Program

The National Child Passenger Safety Certification Training is a four-day course designed for individuals who want to become certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians. This hands-on training equips participants with the knowledge and skills to educate parents and caregivers on the proper selection, installation, and use of child safety seats.

As the statewide contact for Child Passenger Safety Technicians, Safer maintains a robust network and regularly communicates about:

  • Car seat clinics and fitting stations

  • Community outreach opportunities

  • Updates on key topics and best practices

We also support technicians with recertification through Safe Kids Worldwide and work to improve retention rates across the state.

Buckle Up New Mexico Recertification Training

The annual Buckle Up New Mexico Recertification Training is sponsored by the NMDOT TSD and hosted by Safer New Mexico Now.

This training provides currently certified Child Passenger Safety Technicians with the latest research, best practice guidelines, new product information and advances in the field of child passenger safety.  It’s a convenient way for technicians to receive the required Continuing Education Units needed to maintain their certification and is a wonderful opportunity to network and learn from other technicians.
