Safe Kids
Are No Accident
More than twenty
years ago, Safer New Mexico Now (Safer) began working to protect
New Mexico's children from their number one killer-unintentional
injury. As part of the National SAFE KIDS network, the New Mexico
SAFE KIDS Coalition (managed by Safer) continues to lead the
battle against unintentional childhood injury. By teaching caregivers
how to protect children, providing critical safety devices to
those who cannot afford them, advocating for new and stronger
safety legislation, and building community coalitions committed
to changing the conditions that put our children at risk, SAFE
KIDS is making a difference in the lives of families in New Mexico.
Since the inception of the National SAFE KIDS Campaign, the unintentional
injury death rate has dropped 37 percent.
