Safer is a private
nonprofit organization established in 1985 as part of a national
campaign to develop, coordinate, and implement centralized efforts
to promote motor vehicle occupant protection statewide. Through
the use of law enforcement, marketing campaigns, media relations,
education, and training, Safer coordinates and collaborates to
increase public safety by implementing harm reduction and injury
prevention programs. Safer is able to address requests from local
communities and take appropriate, timely, and effective action
in response to community concerns and emerging trends. Safer's
geographical permeation and varied partnerships allow for outreach
and coordination among smaller communities within the State.
Safer also has the capacity to provide services to Spanish-speaking
families and tribal communities. On behalf of the NMDOT, TSB,
Safer provides management oversight in a number of initiatives
such as ODWI/OBD; Click It or Ticket; You Drink, You Drive, You
Lose; and the NHTSA Standardized Child Passenger Safety Technician
Training. |
