Faron Segotta joined Safer in December of 2010 upon his retirement as Chief of the New Mexico State Police/Deputy Cabinet Secretary for the New Mexico Department of Public Safety.   Faron has over 28 years of law enforcement experience in a vast array of assignments. He is a 1993 graduate of Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, a 2001 graduate of the FBI Southwest Command College and a graduate of the FBI National Executive Institute Session #30.   Faron holds an Executive Level Law Enforcement Certification, awarded by the New Mexico Law Enforcement Academy.   He is a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, Past-President of the New Mexico Chiefs of Police Association, and past Executive Board member of the New Mexico Law Enforcement Training Academy.   In 2007 Faron received the Mothers Against Drunk Drivers Milford Award and in 2010 he was the recipient of DWI Czar’s Award for his substantial contributions toward the reduction of DWI related fatalities.   He brings a forward thinking approach that utilizes a collaboration of local, state, county, and community resources to address public safety concerns in New Mexico.
