The New Mexico Department of Transportation Traffic Safety Bureau (NMDOT TSB), along with Safer New Mexico Now (
Safer
), will be hosting the National Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Certification Training Program in
Albuquerque, NM, March 2 - 5, 2011
. This four-day training is for individuals who have never been certified as a CPS techician, or those individuals whos certification has expired two or more years ago. See here for more details or submit an application.

10/13/09: This past week, the Secretary of the Department of Transportation announced new research findings from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) that show nearly 6,000 people died in 2008 in crashes involving a distracted or inattentive driver, and more than half a million were injured. The findings were announced during the kickoff to the two-day Distracted Driving Summit, highlighting the under-recognized dangers of distracted behavior behind the wheel. More than 800,000 vehicles were driven by someone using a hand-held cell phone on any given day in 2008.
